Well my dog Kramer will be 4 months old this weekend. Today was his first grooming. It was time for him to do a hair stripping.Which is how airedales get their cool look. We are really loving having this little guy in our lives.

So they day finally came. Running the HB half marathon. I’d been looking forward to this for sometime. I always hated running. But I decided I would challenge myself and see if I could run a half marathon. Actually another motivation was when I broke my elbow back in August mountain biking. I knew I couldn’t ride for sometime. So running was my best option to stay in shape. While training for it I was averaging 10 minute miles when I was running over 5 miles. I wanted to hopefully do better on race day. I was hoping to keep it under 2 hours. So I got up early Sunday ready to go.

My friend Mark from Colorado came into town for the race. Major cudos to mark. He had a wedding Saturday night to shoot in Arizona. He didn’t finish until 10:30. So he had to drive overnight. He arrived around 4am. Then got a couple hours of sleep woke up and ran the race. Go Mark,your an animal.

Also Michelle’s husband Heath joined us. He ran it last year. Last year I was standing at the finish line cheering Heath on. Thinking I would never do this run. What a difference a year makes.

Well this is the week of the largest tradeshow and speaker event for the wedding photography industry. It starts today. I’m one of the speakers this year. Which is very exciting for me. Stephanie and I arrived on Friday. It was fun to come out a little early and take in a couple of shows.
Friday we decided to see David Copperfield. We had never seen him before . For the last trick of the evening he made 12 guests disappear. Guess who was one of the guests? My wife Stephanie. Here she is on stage just before she disappeared.

It was fun. She was there then she was gone. Crazy. She did return though.

On valentines day we headed to IN-n-Out Burger. It became a tradition when we went out for our very first Valentine Day. I had made reservations at this fancy restaurant trying to impress her. But that night the restaurant way over booked and were running hours behind. Around 11pm we finally have up. On the way home we had to eat. So we decided to go to In-n-Out. We have made it a tradition ever since. We love it.

After In-n-Out we headed to the Mirage to see jay Leno. It was a great night.

John Force Car Show

Well it’s not often that I have a Sunday off. But today was one of those days. So my studio manager Michelle told me about a car show going on in Yorba Linda. Since are new car is up and running we’ve been saying we want to start going to car shows. So we checked it out online to see what it was all about. John Force Holiday Car Show
It turns out that it’s one of the biggest shows of the year. It’s put on to benefit the Chip’s for Kids toy drive. Everybody who attends has to bring at least 1 $10 unwrapped toy. So we thought this would be perfect for our first car show. So we picked up a few toys on Saturday and headed to the show early Sunday morning. Since we just heard about the show we didn’t get to pre-register like the other 900 cars did.It did say on the site you could just show up and you might get lucky and get an open space and still get your car entered. So when we arrived we couldn’t believe how big this car show was. It was over 900 cars. So many amazing cars. We put our name on the waiting list and crossed our fingers. The show started at 10. Around 9:30 they gave us the thumbs up that we had a space. We were super excited to get our car into this show. It was for a great cause and there were so many amazing cars to check out. So we hung out all day,met some great people. Had some friends and family stop by. It was a great day. The best part of the day came at the very end of the show. It turns out that there was judging going on with all the entries. We didn’t know how things worked at this show. Since it was our first show ever. But all day judges are going around the show scoring cars. We found out later that they were picking cars for Best Of Show out of the 900+ entries. So we thought we should stay until the very end just to see who won. We figured the chances for us winning anything were very slim. We found out that you should never assume that. It was fun watching all the winners get called. They were down to 2 winners left to go. And who’s name do we here next? You guessed it Jim & Stephanie Kennedy’s 1955 Ford Sunliner. We couldn’t believe it. Over 900 cars and we were Best of Show. Our first car show ever and we brought home a Best of Show trophy.

The new addition to the family

Well I’ve been wanting to blog about our new addition for sometime now. Delivery was a couple months ago. The new addition kept getting sick. So there was very little time at home. Until now. The new addition is all better now.
She is a 1955 Ford Sunliner.
Isn’t she cute?

When I first came across this car online I could picture Stephanie driving this car. It had her name all over it. So I couldn’t resist. It was for sale by the cutest couple. They were in their 80′s living in Tyler Texas. So we flew out to Texas to see the car. It was love at first sight. As you can see the rest is history. It was delivered a few weeks later. It had to spend a few weeks in the shop to work out a few mechanical issues. The car had been sitting in a garage for about 8 years. So I’ve learned it’s not good for a car just to sit that long and not be driven.
I think now we have worked out most of the little issues. We’ve been driving it around this week. It’s been such a blast.
So today we decided to take a few pictures with the car. Since my son was home for the weekend. We decided it would be a perfect time for a quick family photo. So we all jumped in the car and met up with Amanda to shoot a few photos of us.

We plan on using the car for many more shoots. We are going to make it available for our “For His Eyes Only” shoots. It is going to be so much fun for those shoots. I can’t wait.

One of the JKP Team and a great friend of Stephanie and I is a new mommy. We are so excited for Amanda. She went into labor on Monday at noon. 24 hours later she became a mommy. It was the longest 24 jours of her life. Everything went great. The baby is doing fine.
Addison James Parker born 11:47 a.m. 7lbs 5oz’s.

A week in Cozumel

Well I just returned home yesterday from a great trip. I spent the last week with my daughter in Cozumel. I actually blocked out a weekend from weddings so I could take this trip. It was fathers day weekend and last week my daughter graduated high school. So I wanted to do a father daughter trip. She had been showing an interest in scuba diving. So I decided to get her certified and go hang out in Cozumel. I actually got certified a few years back but only did a few dives. So I’m still getting used to diving. So it was a great trip for us both to work on our diving skills. After this week of diving I know my next investment is going to be an underwater camera. I had to use one of those underwater disposable camera’s just to get a couple shots under the water.

First stop was some mexican food.

We stayed in a great condo a few miles south of downtown.

I need a sign like this for when the kids start complaining.

Korynn had fun driving our jeep around the island.

We found this little ice cream shop in town that had the best ice cream ever.

One of our favorite places to eat was called Ernesto’s Fajita’s. This was the view from our table. The water is so beautiful in Cozumel.

This is the beach right outside our condo. It was so great the dive company would pick us up right at our pier every morning.

For the week we logged 11 dives. It was such a blast. I can’t wait to go back. It was such a blast hanging out with my daughter. Life is all about experiences. This week was full of them.

Well I don’t talk about much of my personal life on this blog. Something I’ve been holding back talking about is that my son has been working hard over the last 6 months to become a Naval Seal. To become a Seal you have to first endure a 6 month program that only about 10% to 20% of the guys that start the program finish. It’s the BUD’s program. (Basic Underwater Demolitions/Seal Training) It’s one of the toughest programs that a person can go through in the military.
I wanted to wait to see how he did before I mentioned it. Well friday was one of the proudest days in my life as a parent. My son Travis made it through BUD’s. He graduated on Friday. It is such a big accomplishment for him to make it through BUD’s. He’s one of the youngest in his class. He just turned 20 last month. He has been training for this for years. It’s been a goal of his since he was in high school.
I couldn’t imagine going through what he has been going through the last 6 months. He loves every minute of it though. One of the biggest tests of BUD’s was hell week. They make you stay up for 5 day’s with no sleep. 24 hours a day training for 5 days straight. Many of the guys who signed up for BUD’s drop out during this week. That is just one of the many extreme tests they put him through.
So like I said I’m so proud of Travis. He never ceases to amaze me.
Now that he has finished BUD’s he goes on to more advanced training.
Monday he starts jump school. He’ll be jumping out of planes at very high altitudes. I’m not sure exactly how high. But I do know that he will have to where an oxygen mask when he jumps out of the plane because they are so high.
Congratulations Travis!!!!!! You are an amazing son.
