Last Saturday I was back to shooting weddings. No more weekends off for a while. It was great to work and The Turnip Rose and get to work with all the great people over there.

I love all the girls in their robes.

Hanging at the Beach

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 -

Well I’m back from Peru and didn’t skip a beat in getting back to work. Since I’ve returned home I’ve done a couple of beach sessions and a wedding.
I had a blast yesterday shooting Jessica and her husband. Jessica is a photographer form the Sacramento area. She loved seeing what I do with my couples at the beach. So she decided to make the trip down South to be able to jump in the ocean for some fun images. It was a beautiful day yesterday. But the water was still on the cold side. That didn’t stop us from getting wet.

Bridal Trunk Show Huntington Beach

Monday, March 3rd, 2008 -

I wanted to announce to any brides to be out there a fun event coming up this weekend in Huntington Beach. Meleesa The Salon located right down the street from my studio is presenting a bridal trunk show. It’s going to happen at her very hip salon in downtown Huntington Beach. Since I’m a local HB business owner I was very excited when she offered me the opportunity to be involved in this event with her. She has a great staff that among their many talents offers wedding day hair and makeup. There will also be a handful of other vendors there showing off their services. So come hang out in Huntington Beach on Saturday March 8th. You can stop by the event and then go out to lunch by the beach.
My studio manager Michelle will be there to answer any questions you have about photography or video for your wedding day. We will also have a few of my wife Stephanie’s recent dress designs. So if your looking for a vintage style dress for your wedding or any special occasion you should definitely come check them out.
So try to make it. March 8 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Peru Travel Tips

I thought I should give a few details on where we stayed on our trip.

When we first arrived in Peru it was around midnight. So we needed to stay overnight in Lima. We were going to catch a plane to Cusco the next morning. Before we left on our trip I looked into finding the hotel closest to the airport. I came across http://www.solmelia.com/. This hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport. So I went with that. When we arrived in Peru I saw they actually have a Ramada Inn right at the airport. I wish I had known about that before I had already booked Sol Melia. So my suggestion is if you have a flight arriving late in Lima. Just walk over the the Ramada and get a room. It will work out great in the morning when you can just wake up and walk 5 minutes and you are in the airport.
Here is a great website for getting a review on the hotel.

I actually use this website a lot when I’m looking for reviews on places to stay.

In Cusco we found a great hotel to stay at. www.hotelarqueologo.com/
It is built right along side some ancient inca walls. It is located in a great area within walking distance on the main square. The rooms are very clean. The staff was great. They helped arrange getting us a driver to explore the Sacred Valley. So we didn’t have to get on a tour bus. It was great. There is no TV or phones in the room. But who cares. We were not there to watch TV.

After Cusco we headed to Puno. In Puno we stayed at Casa Andina Classic- Puno Tikarini
http://www.casa-andina.com/peru_hotels/puno_tikarani_hotel-2-8-9.htm
We booked it online while we were in Cusco. They had great rates. Less that $70 per night. It was located right in the middle of town. Minutes from the Lake Titicaca Port.
The rooms were very clean. Had cable TV. The room rate also includes breakfast. Which is pretty standard. Every hotel we stayed at included breakfast.

When we headed home we needed to stay one night in Lima because our flight back home left early in the morning. So we did take advantage of the Ramada Inn at the airport the night before we left.

So I hope that helps with anybody planning a trip to Peru. Feel free to email me with any questions.
